OPENING AND CLOSING YOUR HOSTED DATABASE
Databases must be closed to download, upload, replace and delete.

MacUSA.net has developed a Control Panel like application for customers to open and close their own hosted databases on our servers anytime. The web-based application named Database Tools is still under development and is currently available to all MacUSA.net customers except for FileMaker servers hosting FileMaker databases earlier than version 9. More features will be added in the coming months.

We maintain more than 70 servers. It may be easier to indicate which servers do not support the new application rather than naming all that do.

Finding the server
All database administrators have been sent an email message with instructions and a link.  If you cannot find the email message sent from support@macusa.net you may try typing the server name and a dot in front of the macusa.net. For example: http://trenton.macusa.net

Logging into the server
For most accounts the user name and password to logon is the same as their FTP credentials. In some cases application limitations prevented us from using their FTP settings. if you cannot logon please contact support@macusa.net.

Database status
Unfortunately, we have not yet developed a database status indicator.  Try closing or opening your database. If the database is already closed or open you should receive an error message indicating so. However, you should verify its stating by trying to connect to it remotely.

Closing your database
A list will appear of all your hosted databases.  It's best practice to send notice to your connected users requesting that they disconnect from the database or quit their FileMaker program.  Otherwise you may receive a timeout error trying to close the database. The database will close but will require more than 5 minutes if users are connected.  Click the close link to close the database when ready..

Opening your database
Click the open link to open the database.  Some databases require a minute or so to open.

Uploading / downloading your database
There are two links to gain access to the CrushFTP server.  The links will automatically log you into the server.  NOTE: If you are not automatically logged in the reason is that your CrushFTP credentials are different than your Database Tools login.  To sync these contact support@macusa.net.  IMPORTANT:  Keep the database file names the same to avoid broken links and additional setup fees.
